Parody a Song – Sarah Crossan's Poetry Challenge

Sarah Crossan is a teacher turned novelist who won the CILIP Carnegie Medal for her stunning verse novel One in 2016. Her #poetrychallenge videos on Instagram are a treasure chest of inspiration and ideas for those who want to tell their stories in poetry. This is Poetry Challenge no. 2. Sarah says:

PARODY. Can you find a song or poem and mock it by changing the lyrics?

Definition of parody: an imitation of the style of a particular writer, artist, or genre with deliberate exaggeration for comic effect. But in a diary? A diary entry in SONG? And not just a song, but with parody lyrics? Absolutely! It can be fun too. Take a song, adapt the lyrics to tell your story with comedic effect. We'd love to read it!
