FOR TEACHERS, PARENTS AND CARERS
What is Our Corona Diary?
Our Corona Diary hopes to facilitate a creative response to the pandemic and we’d love your help in bringing your children together with children’s authors and illustrators to create stories, diary entries, poetry and art throughout the pandemic, with the aim of eventually creating an anthology to be published at the end of the pandemic.
Anyone can use the resources on the website for ideas on how to keep a diary but to submit diary entries, a responsible adult must register on behalf of the children. Some young people may have serious problems during this period of intense pressure. They may express these through their diary entries. For safeguarding reasons it’s important that these entries are seen by a responsible adult and appropriate supportive action is taken. The process of submission to the anthology will be announced in due course - for now, let’s just give young people a creative outlet to communicate and let off steam!
Any record kept, in any format, counts as a diary. Write it, draw it, stitch it, stick it, photograph it, bead it, craft it, sculpt it!
Post on Instagram on their behalf but don’t give personal details - you can use initials and the child's age if you want to. Make sure they’re happy with what you’re sharing. Talk, listen and encourage them in their endeavours. If you have any worries about their mental health, check our resources for somewhere you can get help. They will be anxious. This is an anxiety inducing time.
The Our Corona Diary team will select entries across all age groups from the pandemic months. We want different voices and experiences that tell the story of our young people during this time. This isn’t a literary competition, this is a shared experience, a shared record, and every child, even if their diary isn’t featured, will have their name in the book.

And if you want to create a video or anything else to share with our diarists, please get in touch about that as well! The more the merrier.
